Arunachal PSC paper leak: CBI registers FIR

Pramod, October 28, 2022November 20, 2023

The alleged leakage of the assistant engineer exam question paper conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission on August 26 and 27 has prompted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to file an FIR. A preliminary investigation points to the involvement of a deputy secretary of the commission in the question paper leak.

On September 10, the Arunachal Pradesh police initiated legal proceedings against Akhilesh Yadav, a teacher at the Jeju Institute coaching centre in Itanagar, and unidentified officials of the public service commission in connection with the purported question paper leakage for the assistant engineers’ recruitment (civil).

Following established procedures, the CBI re-registered the FIR. Subsequently, Taket Jerang, Deputy Secretary at APPSC, was apprehended by the state police. He is accused of not only leaking the assistant engineer examination but also previous papers, allegedly amassing crores of rupees in the process. Jerang’s activities are currently under scrutiny, and the CBI intends to seek court permission to interrogate him while he is held in judicial custody.
